House Sitting
Pet Sitting
I will care for your home, pets and garden as if they were my own.
“Lisa is AMAZING! She stayed at our house for 10 days with our two dogs while we were on vacation. We first met her on FaceTime and could tell right away that she was a wonderful person! …
While away, we got daily updates with photos showing how happy the pups were, and she took them on long walks around the neighborhood and hikes in the greenbelt (which is their favorite and more than what we even asked for)! ...
We didn't have a single issue come up while away and came home to a clean house and very happy dogs. I highly suggest hiring Lisa as your house and pet sitter. She's reliable, great at communicating, positive and overall just a great caretaker. I never worried once while we were away! Thanks again, Lisa, for going above and beyond for us!”

20+ years' experience
In my life, I have only "owned" two dogs, five cats, two horses and two rabbits, but I have cared for literally hundreds of horses, a few dozen dogs and cats, several birds, flocks upon flocks of chickens, some ducks, cattle, pigs, goats, and sheep. I started farm sitting while earning a degree in animal science and have worked on horse, livestock and vegetable farms for years since.
I am currently house sitting on the US West Coast and in Alaska.
You are looking for:
A responsible, conscientious adult to stay in your home while you're away
A person who's skilled in caring for cats, dogs, poultry, horses, livestock and gardens
Someone who can make pleasant conversation with your neighbors, manage your trash cans, bring in your packages, and notify you if something seems off
An active-outdoors, non-smoker, work-from-home, most-nights-in type
“I'm very thankful Lisa was able to care for our cat and two horses. She took excellent care of them and our home. She also went above and beyond and did gardening! We would love to have Lisa stay again and have every confidence in her care.”

Here's an easy way to make the house-sitting connection:
We’ll have a video call or meet in person, if possible.
You’ll enjoy your time away with peace of mind.
“Lisa is a responsible farm sitter/house sitter, providing excellent care of your home and pets, from cats to cows. We had the pleasure of working with Lisa on our farm many years ago, but have stayed in touch and would gladly request farm sitting again, if the need arose. Her extensive farming experience gives her the skills necessary to handle any challenges that may occur on the job.”
— Mom to too many animals to name (And I have farm sat for her since she provided this testimonial!)You probably have questions.

No one likes this answer, but: It depends. How long will you be away? How many animals do you have? How many different kinds of animals do you have? Does anyone require medication or other medical care, multiple walks per day, visits to doggie daycare? Do you have reliable wifi, or will I need to bring a hotspot? How far do I need to travel to get to you? Are garden veggies part of the deal? Rates generally start at $300 per week, but let's exchange more information before I offer a quote.

I prefer house sits that are 3 weeks or longer. Sometimes week-long house sits work out nicely to fill in gaps in my schedule. So, again: It depends.

I'm sure it's possible, but I'm not doing it. I've built a career as a writer, communications project manager and food-systems advocate. All of my work is remote with occasional travel to a client or event (which would not be booked while I'm committed to your house sit). House sitting/pet sitting/farm sitting is a small part of my income and a large part of the joy that travel and animals offer to us all.
“Lisa was a fantastic sitter! She was not only incredibly kind and friendly, but she was also super organized, tidy, ... thoughtful, responsible and responsive. We came home late at night and our boys were happy, our house was tidy and she went above and beyond with making our bed with clean sheets and leaving us a thoughtful gift from her very own garden! Thank you again, Lisa. We would love to have you sit again for us in the future!!!”
